I.V. Operations Assessment
I.V. Operations is designed to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce waste, and enhance patient safety in the I.V. process management.
Objectives
- Analyze operations from pharmacy to nursing to patient bedside.
- Identify enhancements that can be made to the I.V. management process.
- Uncover gaps in operational practices that can cause complexity, inconsistency, or inefficiencies.
Methodology
A pre-assessment review of the hospital's I.V. usage information, policies, and other background data is performed. In addition, an onsite assessment of I.V. practices in pharmacy and patient care units is conducted. Further information is collected through pharmacy staff interviews and direct observations.
